Hey everyone. I hope you are all coming to the Car-Free Commercial Drive Festival on Sunday June 14th! I'm coordinating the barricade volunteers, and I still need a dozen or so! This is a VERY easy volunteer job. You basically stand at a barricade wearing a cape and make sure people don't bust onto the street in their evil cars (rawr). Don't worry, you don't have to stand in front of moving vehicles. You get sidewalk chalk and can bring a musical instrument to play or a book to read. Easiest community service work you will ever do. You will also very likely get a nice tan while doing it (weather pending), and there is TONS of free food in the green room if you are a volunteer. Read: FREE FOOD!
The following shift times are available:
noon to 2pm 2pm to 4pm 4pm to 6pm 6pm to 8pm
Please email me if you are interested in taking a shift (firstname.lastname@example.org)! Schedules will be going out next week.
If you have already signed up or are considering it, we are holding orientation meetings at the Britannia Learning Resource Centre behind the library on Commercial Drive on:
June 7, 2pm-4pm June 9, 7pm-9pm.
We would love to see you there! If you've already signed up for a shift, you'll have it emailed to you tomorrow. The printed copy will also be at the orientations.
